tfk Strollers: Mono 3, Mono 4, Duo and Pro Compared

Tfk offers complete strollers in three ranges. Which one is right for you depends mainly on how many children will ride along and where you'll mostly be using your stroller. The frame, combi unit and stroller seat all follow the same modular logic – more on that in the next section.

Mono 3: three wheels, sports approval, ideal for rough terrain

The Mono 3 continues the tradition tfk started with: even the very first tfk stroller had three wheels. The Mono 3 rides on air tires and is even approved for sports use. That makes it the one to choose if you often head out on uneven paths and this approval matters to you.

Mono 4: four wheels for everyday life and the city

The Mono 4 is the four-wheel counterpart, also with air tires. It's designed for everyday use and city streets and isn't approved for sports use. Find out how the Mono 4 performs day to day in our tfk Mono 4 review.

Jogging with the tfk Pro

The tfk Pro was developed specifically for jogging with your child. This three-wheel stroller is officially approved for sports use, making it ideal for parents who run regularly and want to bring their little one along. See how the jogging stroller performs in action in our tfk Pro review in the magazine.

Duo: for siblings and twins

With the Duo, tfk offers a stroller for two children – as a double stroller for kids of different ages or as a twin stroller. The Duo is available with air tires or air-chamber tires. You'll find a detailed hands-on report in our tfk Duo review.

The tfk modular system: frame, combi unit and stroller seat

A tfk stroller is made up of individual components that you combine: the frame as the base and a unit in which your child lies or sits. That way, the stroller grows with your child.

  • Frame: the chassis with wheels, for example from the Mono 3 or Mono 4.

  • Combi unit: usable from birth. At first your baby lies in it like in a bassinet; once your baby can sit up, you convert it into a seat with a recline position.

  • Stroller seat: the unit for bigger kids from around 6 months.

The combi unit and stroller seat fit the frames of the Mono 3, Mono 4 and Pro.

Accessories to match your model

Most tfk accessories are designed for specific models, such as a rain cover for the Mono 3, Mono 4 and Pro, or one made specifically for the Duo combi unit. So check the product name to see which model a part is meant for – this also applies to older ranges like the Mono 2 or Joggster.

With a matching stroller adapter, you can attach infant car seats from various brands to tfk stroller frames.

Frequently Asked Questions about tfk

tfk stands for Trends for Kids. The family-run company was founded in 1997 in Landshut, Bavaria. The first tfk stroller had three wheels – a wheel concept that lives on today in the Mono 3. Today, tfk offers strollers for one or two children as well as accessories, child bike trailers and balance bikes.

For one child, there's the Mono 3 with three wheels and sports approval, or the Mono 4 with four wheels for everyday life and the city. The Duo is designed for siblings or twins. If you want to jog regularly, go for the Pro: tfk developed it for exactly that purpose. It's officially approved for jogging.

The Mono 3 has three wheels and sports approval; the Mono 4 has four wheels and no sports approval. The Mono 4 is designed for everyday life and the city. Both ride on air tires and use the same combi unit and stroller seat, so you can use the units on either frame.

You use the combi unit as a bassinet from birth and convert it into a seat once your child can sit up. As a seat, it has a recline position for breaks on the go. For bigger kids up to about 4.5 years, there's also the XXL stroller seat. Both units fit the frames of the Mono 3, Mono 4 and Pro.

You'll find accessories and replacement parts for older tfk models such as the Mono 2 or Duo in our tfk stroller accessories. Most parts are designed for specific models. The product name always states which model they fit, for example "for Mono 2, Mono 3, Mono 4 & Pro".
