Bed Rails for Safe Sleep
A bed rail protects your child from rolling out of the toddler bed or parents' bed while asleep. It is especially suitable for the transition from a crib to a bigger bed, or if your child regularly sleeps in the family bed.
Which bed rail fits your bed?
First, check whether the model is suitable for a toddler bed, standard bed, or box spring bed. For wide parents' beds, XL bed rails are often a good choice. For a shorter toddler bed, a more compact model may make more sense.
Also important are the permitted mattress height and width. Measure the bed before buying and follow the manufacturer's specifications. Some bed rails are pushed under the mattress and additionally secured to the slatted frame or bed frame with straps.
Bed rail made of wood or fabric?
A wooden bed rail looks especially good with toddler beds and low beds. Models with a metal frame and a mesh or fabric cover are usually lighter and can often be folded to save space. That's practical for traveling or overnight stays at the grandparents'.
Foldable bed rails also make it easier to get in and out of bed and to make the bed. Before buying, check whether the folding function can be used easily at your bed height.
What to keep in mind when installing it
Always attach the bed rail completely according to the enclosed instructions. There must be no dangerous gaps between the bed rail and the head or foot end. Also make sure the rail sits securely and matches your child's size and age.
