The tapered ends have a kink so that they can be folded downwards and end at the edge of the dining table. As the placemat is made of food-safe silicone, it has non-slip properties. As a result, it not only adheres very well to the surface to be protected without creasing, but also ensures that cups, plates etc. stay in place.
